Building a B2B Food Marketplace From Zero
Two Sides, Zero Users, One Launch
A B2B Food Marketplace With Nothing to Start From
Bilibenta asked us to build a B2B marketplace — a place where businesses could buy and sell food and other goods from each other. There was nothing to start from. No app, no brand, no users.
That’s harder than a normal launch. A regular app just needs users. A marketplace needs two kinds at once — buyers and sellers, both showing up from day one. Without sellers there’s nothing to buy; without buyers, no seller sticks around. We couldn’t build a product and launch it separately from bringing people in — everything had to do both jobs at once.
On top of that, business buyers don’t switch suppliers easily. They don’t take risks lightly, and a marketplace with no track record is a risk. The brand had to look established and trustworthy immediately — before it had any history to point to.
Built to hold both sides at once
Platform, brand and growth, launched together
A marketplace from scratch
A platform built from the ground up that let businesses list, browse and deal with each other on either side of a sale.
A brand with no track record to hide
Designed to look established and trustworthy from day one — because business buyers don't take a chance on something that looks new.
Infrastructure built to scale both sides
Hosted on AWS, so the platform could grow with buyers and sellers together, without needing to be rebuilt later.
Growth for two audiences, not one
Marketing that pulled in buyers and suppliers at the same time — not generic traffic to a sign-up page nobody was ready to use.
The result
Live, on both sides
The marketplace launched with businesses actively listing, browsing and dealing on both sides of the platform — not just a product with nowhere to grow into. The brand carried itself like an established player from day one, backed by infrastructure on AWS built to handle both sides scaling together.
It’s a straightforward brief on paper — build a marketplace — that’s genuinely hard to pull off from zero. Getting both sides of the table to show up at once, on a brand with no history, is the part that usually stalls these builds before they start.
